The Squishy Eggs Campaign

Age Recommendation: 6+ | Chapter Length: 1.5 hour to 2 hours | Campaign Length : 10.5 -14 Hours / 7 Chapters

Summary

The Squishy Eggs is a 7 chapter campaign where adventurers start their journey of finding about and rescuing squishy eggs. Squishy eggs are stuffed animal eggs -- eggs which stuffed animals hatch from. At the time of this writing, my daughters are bonkers about Squishmallows (I am not affiliated with the company in any way) and this campaign centered around what my daughters are bonkers about. Though the title of the campaign is The Squishy Eggs and many characters do look like a Squishmallow, many other characters in the campaign do not and are just normal stuffed animals, which is fun for all kids.

At it's heart, The Squishy Eggs is a simplified role playing game that is more about the story and experience rather than complex elements of role playing games. General features are:

  • A simplified general store where adventurers can buy items, but not weapons, armor, or relics. Adventurers will gain new weapons, abilities and increased stats, but these will be awarded on completion of quests.

  • Simple attacking and test system.

  • No complex experience system.

  • Gradual teaching of new and more complex rules.

Rules

The rules to The Squishy Eggs are not complicated. The dungeon master who is running the game needs to be aware of all they need to keep track of so that the younger players can simply focus on playing and not keeping track of too many things. The Squish Eggs was creating during the COVID-19 lockdowns and is ideally played showing one's screen. Physical play is also possible -- just print out the materials, cut out the required pieces and you should be good to go!

Prior to play, consult Rules.

Chapters

You have heard tales of adventurers going out and finding these special eggs called “squishy eggs”. Unlike store bought chicken eggs, these eggs had a soft texture and feel to them -- almost like a sponge or a marshmallow.

When tossed, they bounce and roll like big cotton balls. The tales of these eggs tell of magical powers which come from them -- whether the magic came from consuming the eggs or what hatched out was not known.

To add to the mystery, you do not know anyone who’s seen these eggs. Seeing or even holding one of these squishy eggs seemed so out of touch … until today.

Dungeon Master Guide

Our adventurers fell into a giant hole… while falling, robbers who were chasing you shoot a volley of arrows into the hole. You wrap your body around the squishy eggs, protecting them. Many of the arrows hit your armor, but many also hit you.

Expecting the hit solid ground, you instead fall down on something very soft. Because you are wounded, you faint.

With the pathway to the source of the wind clear, the wind begins to pick up and is strong enough to carry away the towns people. This is no ordinary wind, it's like it has a mind of its own. Time to give the wind a mind of our own and see what the spoils have to offer! Time for a spark of imagination!

Dungeon Master Guide

As wind vanishes into the air, the town once that was plagued with wind suddenly grew silent. Without wind, the air gets still, damp and musty.

You have smelled this smell before but cannot put a finger on it. This is no place for raising baby squishies! Time to find a way out of here.

Dungeon Master Guide

Under The Earth is no place to raise a baby. There is no sunlight, no fresh air, and no safe place to run. We need to find a way out of this place... but how?

Rumors tell of a person named "Mouse" which inhabits the dark corridors -- perhaps we can ask her if she has the key to our problem or if she will be a problem to solve.

Nobody ever told you that squishy babies love to eat cloud fruit... that is, until today. Good thing they also told you were to get cloud fruit. Bad thing is that you'll need to travel across a river.

What lies beyond the river? Well, I just told you, cloud fruit.

Rumors tell of fruit being grown high up in the forest of clouds by an uncanny gardener. Will you be able to find it? That's not all the mysteries. Somehow, after you made it to the surface, the key that you used to turn on the hand-rocket started shaking and turning in various directions. It's almost like someone or something is calling out to it.

Miss Robo is going to take us to the source of all these evil robots dropping from the sky. There is fear, but being on top of a giant robot that we just met helps us feel more comfortable, right?

Once we get up to the spaceship dropping all these evil robots, we're going to bring the spaceship down! How will we get down safely ourselves? Ehhhh, that's a question to answer once we get up there!
