About
A Dungeon Story is a Role Playing Game is aimed at younger players as well as new or inexperienced dungeon masters.
Though there are online guides, much of the kid friendly materials didn't have detailed campaign with detailed chapters detailing how to run the game and the different events specific to that specific session. It is difficult enough to introduce young kids how to play a role playing game, much less at the same time, learn how to be a dungeon master. To make the experience more streamlined, fun, and to lower the entry point.
A Dungeon Story was created to fill this gap.
A Dungeon Story aims to:
Be affordable to all. At this moment, during COVID-19, all material is available for free. Please fill out survey for access.
To provide lots of assistance to the dungeon master. All essential materials to assist the dungeon master to allow a busy individual / parent is provided in the free edition A dungeon master would simply pick up the manual, give it a quick read and then run a game with kids.
All A Dungeon Story quests are campaigns. To ensure depth and enable an atmosphere for kids and adults to imagine, all A Dungeon Story quests are campaigns. I firmly believe that kids should be allowed and encouraged to experiment and imagine -- this means that there must be enough content for them to play around with to feed young minds.
A Dungeon Story was created in 2020 by Anthony Tang in order to have something to spend more time with my young daughters and her cousins during COVID-19. It is the first large role playing game project I have ever created. If you have any feedback, please let me know!
About The Creator
A Dungeon Story was created by myself, Anthony Tang during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
At home with my kids, we both missed bonding with my nephews. A Dungeon Story was born out of the desire to spend more time getting to know the kids while they were young (till they got older and perhaps didn't want to spend time with you!).
I have enjoyed playing RPGs with my own kids such as Hero Kids and Amazing Adventures. I felt both of those were really awesome, and I felt that I wanted to create something along the same vein of kid friendly material, but also giving much more help to the Dungeon Master. Though I feel that many are naturally talented at telling and making up a story, some of us can benefit from some hand holding.
While playing more and more with the kids, I noticed that I got better at conducting chapters, the creation of them took less time (down from say, 20 hours to maybe 10). Whereas before, I used to type up all the notes and plot twists, right now, I take a couple of hours thinking about the chapter and then typing the general plot up. One of the most time-consuming aspects of making these chapters publicly availability is the amount of work needed to write down all my thoughts and detailed plot lines.
In the end, the chapters and campaigns on this site are different than those I played with my kids as my nephews, however, all main plot lines are the same, and the spirit of the chapters are very much the same.
All content in this site and the campaigns was created by me. I feel there can certainly be improvements, and with time, there will be improvements. Please contact me using the survey above if you are interested in distribution of any of the items.
